New Products at Lit

We have some exciting new products at Lit to look for the next time you're in.

- Sierra Nevada Flipside Red IPA - It's been a while since we had a new beer on draught at Lit. We're going to offer a seasonal selection, beginning with a great Fall beer from the original craft brewery, Sierra Nevada. The Flipside Red IPA combines the punch and hoppiness of an IPA without the added bitterness, thanks to the addition of three different malts. Try one this Fall!

- Pendleton 1910 Rye Whisky - Made from 100% Canadian Rye and aged 12 years in nearby Pendleton, Oregon, the 1910 Rye is a great introduction to the Rye category. It's balanced and smooth, but with the added spice that has made Rye whiskey one of the fastest growing categories over the past few years. Here's an informative review from the Drink Spirits blog.

- Laphroaig Triple Wood - Laphroaig is an Islay Single Malt well known for its bold, peaty profile. The Triple Wood has been matured in three different casks (bourbon, quarter casks, and Oloroso Sherry) to give it a touch of sweetness and more balance. This one is worth trying for Islay fans and is a great introduction to the style.

- Mount Gay Black Barrel - This sipping rum, aged in bourbon barrels for added character was such a hit during our event earlier this month, that we're having the lovely representatives from Mount Gay back again on Saturday, September 28 from 9-11pm. Come out to take advantage of some great deals on special cocktails featuring Black Barrel!

- La Flor Dominicana Factory Press Limitado - A new limited edition cigar from LFD, the Factory Press Limitado will only grace our shelves for a month or so, as we received only 60 cigars. Here is the lowdown on one of our favorite new cigars for 2013 from the halfwheel blog.

- La Gloria Cubana Serie R Esteli - Released in 54, 60 and 64 ring gauges, the Serie R Esteli is spicier and more reasonably priced than the original Serie R. Definitely worth a try for Nicaraguan cigar fans and lovers of big fat cigars!

WCSF Vendor Spotlight - La Flor Dominicana

Tickets are on sale now for the October 12th Washington Cigar & Spirits Festival. We'll be presenting a great selection of cigars from Litto Gomez and La Flor Dominicana, including three different expressions of his trademarked Chisel shape, as well as the mammoth DL 700 and Digger cigars.

Another cigar we'll have available is the sought after LFD Mystery Event Cigar, only available at La Flor events. I've had a few of these and they are awesome. Here's a nice review of the Mystery Event Cigar from halfwheel that should build your excitement.

We'll be giving away five packs of this cigar with every box purchase during the WCSF.

Quesada Oktoberfest

In my opinion, this is probably the best cigar coming out of the Dominican Republic - Without a doubt, it is my favorite! Excellent smoke!

Side notes:
Only a few more weeks till the Washington Cigar and Spirits Festival up at the Snoqualmie Casino. I checked with Josh last week and he assured me that tickets were still available. I'll be heading up the mountain this weekend to get mine! See you up there!

Lit Newsletter - Oktoberfest Event Tonight!

Wednesday, September 11, 2013
Upcoming Events at Lit

Please join us in Lit this Thursday, September 12 when we'll be welcoming the coming of Fall with a special Oktoberfest event! We'll be joined by Brad Weinfeld of S.A.G. as we feature three of their cigars: The Quesada Oktoberfest, Tres Reynas and Casa Magna.

The Oktoberfest cigar is a limited edition Dominican Puro that has been critically acclaimed the past few years and is in its third year of production. Here's a nice review from Cigar Insights.

The other limited edition cigar available at Thursday's event is the Casa Magna D Magnus II, a boxed press cigar that was a hit at Lit during last year's release. Check out a review of this one here, compliments of Cigar Coop.

Continuing with the Oktoberfest theme, we'll be joined by our friend Mark Marzano from Georgetown Brewery as we feature their Oktoberfest seasonal, Tom-toberfest, in addition to the Manny's Pale Ale and Lucille IPA we normally carry. We hope you'll join us!

This Fall, join us Sunday-Thursday from 9pm to Midnight for our Late Night Happy Hour with Rocky Patel: $10 gets you a Rocky Patel cigar, along with your choice of Pyrat XO Rum, Glen Grant 10 year Scotch, or Collingwood Canadian Whisky. Tuck those kids in bed and join us for Late Night Happy Hour with Rocky Patel!

In case you didn't join us last year, Lit is the place to be for Seahawks games! Last year, we gave away a prize for every 'Hawks score all season long and intend to do so again this year! Beginning this Sunday, we'll be open at 10 a.m. for all NFL Sundays. Grab some buddies and watch the game with us at Lit!

WCSF Vendor Spotlight - San Lotano

Tickets are on sale now for the October 12th Washington Cigar & Spirits Festival. One of the great projects we'll be unveiling during this event is the Lit 5th Anniversary cigar by San Lotano.

Many of you have met our good friend Clay Roberts at one of our San Lotano events. He's the gregarious VP of Sales for AJ Fernandez and budding reality TV star.

We worked closely with Clay to create a special 5 year aged blend of the San Lotano Oval in honor of our 5th Anniversary. This cigar will be limited to 300 boxes of 10 and ticket holders to the Washington Cigar & Spirits Festival will be the first to try it!

It's a great opportunity to celebrate this milestone with us and save 20% off your box of the Lit 5th Anniversary Cigar!

Road Trip

You know even though you can buy Cuban cigars in Canada, good luck trying to find a place to smoke them, especially in BC and Alberta. Well, I was up at Lake Louise last week and I finally found a place: The Post Hotel. It's not cheap by any means, but it's worth stopping by, especially if you're in the neighborhood!

Anyway, I brought a few cigars from my collection along with me for the trip and I've got to tell you that there were a couple in the bunch that really stood out, in fact, I think I might buy a box of these:

El Centurion - My Father Cigars
3 Reynas

Never smoked either one before, but these were phenomenal! If you know my taste, you've got to try either one of these, you won't be sorry. Typical Nicaraguan excellence - sweet, smooth, perfect draw and tons of smoke. Brother they were exceptionally good!

So on our way back from Lake Louise/Banff, we decided to make a little detour over to Couer d'Alene, Idaho - nice little drive. You're probably wondering why I came back that way instead of through Kamloops or Kelowna? Well, on the way up we drove through Kamloops and we could have come back via Kelowna and down through Wenatchee, but in all actuality, I wanted to see Couer d'Alene and come back through Spokane so we could stop at the Legend of Fire Cigar Lounge at the Northern Quest Casino. Heck, I've never been there before, I had to stop by!

Anyway, after doing the tourist stuff and spending the night over at Lake Couer d'Alene, we started heading back to Kirkland with that quick stop in Spokane. The Northern Quest Casino isn't far from I-90, maybe 5 miles, so it's not really too out of the way for us.

If you've never been to the casino, it's really nice, in fact I think it might be nicer than anything we have on the west side - beautiful hotel, big gaming area, lots of nice restaurants, and everything looks brand spanking new. We were impressed! You know living in the Seattle area you always assume that a bunch of yahoos live over here, but this was actually First Class all the way. :)

So I asked a lady at one of the restaurants how to get to the cigar lounge and she points me in the right direction. We walked down this long hallway and I see the lounge up ahead - cool! This is going to be great! We walked up to the double doors, I can see the how nice it looks through the glass, I gave a little tug on one of the big doors - LOCKED! OH NO! They're not open yet. SHEEEEEEE-IT! Just my luck...
Guess we could have waited a few hours for the lounge to open, but we really had to head home. DAMN!

Side Notes:
Little Smoke @ Northern Quest Resort & Casino is this coming Saturday. (I would love to go to this) Also, there's an event down at the Tobacco Patch on Saturday night. I might show up for this one, but it'll be tough - we're having friends over for dinner.
;)
