You know, I've got to honestly say that I wasn't expecting much when I bought my ticket for this event, and when I found out that there was going to be 3 other cigar events scattered around town on the same day, well, I thought the Spring Smoke would have a somewhat lackluster turnout...
Boy, was I wrong!
I don't know how the other events turned out, but the Spring Smoke was a total success - the Snoqualmie Ballroom was surprisingly full! I guess if you're a cigar smoker, this was really the place to be!
I hung out at the Kirkland table with the gang and a few other super nice guys. BTW, the Kirkland table was the lucky one: 2 people at our table won prizes! Yeah!
Food - again, it surpassed my expectations - excellent selection, and I must admit that I ate way too much! Those meatballs were killer!
Booze - what's not to like? My favorite beer: Manny's, and my favorite rum: Pyrat. Nothing else required to be happy. However, I was really surprised at how much I liked the Westland Distillery American Single Malt Whiskey! Good stuff and it's local!
Cigars: CAO. If you haven't tried the Flathead cigar line yet, you're in for a treat. They're fantastic! I'm somewhat partial to the Camshaft, but honestly they're all good.
Overall, what an amazingly good time! Great job Josh! Another Gold Star for the books!
We're just a few days away from our biggest cigar event of the season, the Lit Spring Smoke! Tickets are still available at the casino box office or via Ticketmaster.
You already know about the awesome door prizes we have to give away, including the CAO Speakerbox humidor and the CAO Flathead Toolbox with tool shaped cigars.
We've just received some of the gifts that CAO will be offering with cigar purchases - and you don't want to miss this! They've sent two mysterious crates, called Area 9, filled with packs of exclusive unreleased cigars that are not available for sale. The only way you can get these packs is at our event.
They've also sent more of the cool CAO Flathead wall tins depicting 4 different scenes in the Flathead theme of Hot Rods and Pinup Girls.
Manny Chao, brewmaster at Georgetown Beer is going to dig deep into his vault and bring us two limited edition beers to taste - the Kiss Ass Blaster Triple IPA and the Double Deux Belgian Dubbel. Two more reasons to get your tickets today!
New at Lit
We've got a few things to try the next time you're in, especially for you bourbon geeks:
- Orphan Barrel Barterhouse and Old Blowhard - The Orphan Barrel whiskey company is dedicated to finding lost and forgotten barrels from around the world. Their first releases are both bourbons discovered in old warehouses in the Stitzel-Weller distillery in Louisville, KY, most famous for producing the coveted Van Winkle collection of whiskeys.
Barterhouse is a 20 year aged bourbon with notes of roasted grain, charred oak and a brown sugar finish. Old Blowhard is a 26 year old bourbon which contains exuberant, rich flavors with undertones of smoke and honey followed by a gentle finish – dry and spicy with a hint of orange peel.
- Booker's 25th Anniversary - To celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the one of the most respected bourbons in the world, Booker's has released this 9-11 year old unfiltered and barrel strength whiskey. Booker's 25th is a lush, spicy and complex whiskey despite its high alcohol content.
All three of these products arrived as part of an extremely limited allocation and won't last long. We hope you can enjoy a glass the next time you're in!

I'll be heading up the mountain to the Spring Smoke, I just got my tickets on Saturday night. I really wish I could make it over to the Union Cigar Society event as well, those guys wrote the book on catering an event - they're the best for sure. And lastly, I actually work pretty close to Rain City Cigars, so I might pop my head in the tent if I get a chance - the hours for this event don't actually work for me, but we shall see!
Anyway, maybe I'll see you guys on Friday at one of these special events!

Just got back from sunny Arizona. Never really thought that I would like it down there, but it turns out that the wifey-poo and I loved it! Guess we must be getting old, eh?
Arizona is basically the exact opposite of here in Seattle - if you like cloudy, damp, wet, soggy weather, Arizona is not for you!
Anyway, we spent most of our time in Scottsdale, but we also drove to Sedona, Flagstaff, the Grand Canyon, Tucson, and all over Phoenix, even saw a little snow between Flagstaff and the Grand Canyon. (7300 foot elevation)
So did I find any cigar lounges on my travels? Yes!
hours: Sun-Thu 10am till midnight, Fri-Sat 10am till 2am.
If you're in Scottsdale, like I was, this might be a little far to drive, but for me it was totally worth it. You see this is one of the few cigar places that I was able to find that is open till late. Really? Yes! Most of the cigar establishments down here close at 6pm. Now I'm just talking about cigar joints, there are many restaurants down here that allow you to smoke cigars in their outside seating areas, but as far as cigar lounges, this is the only one that I could find that was open really late. Glad I found it too!
Couple of noteworthy things about this place - the cigars and booze are considerably cheaper here than in Washington, and honestly if you can't find what you're looking for here, you need to raise your standards!
hours: Mon-Wed 9:30am-6:00pm, Thu-Fri 9:30am-9pm, Sat 9am-9pm, Sun 10:30am-5:30pm
From their website:
"The oldest tobacco store in The Valley, and one of the oldest in Arizona, Ford & Haig – the Tobacconist, has been doing business for over fifty years."
I visited this cigar lounge a coupe times while my lovely wife was shopping over at the Scottsdale Fashion Square. Not to change the subject, but this Mall is bigger than Bellevue Square, the Bravern, and Northgate combined - it's gigantic! I guess that's a good thing - gave me plenty of time to finish all those cigars I smoked!
Anyway, this is a great little cigar shop - excellent selection of cigars and a nice little seating area up front, perfect for watching the ballgame on the big screen. They also let you serve yourself with cold pop or water from the fridge in the back. Nice touch...
I was really surprised at how many regular customers this place has too, everyone smoking cigars in the middle of the day. Doesn't anyone work anymore? lol...
Great time in AZ - saw lots of beautiful places, ate some of the best food, got plenty of sunshine, and to top it off, smoked some of the finest cigars made on the earth! What a life!
Got your tickets for the SpringSmoke at the Snoqualmie Casino yet? Me neither, but I think I'm heading up the mountain this weekend to buy mine. I've procrastinated long enough...
Our kickoff event a few weeks ago was great in spite of the heavy rains we had. Good thing we have the trusty Rain City Cigar 25 Foot Cigar Lounge to keep everyone dry!
We have looked at the long range forecast and it is calling for dry weather and low 60's. Perfect early spring weather for another event!
Next up on our Spring event series is...
Brick House is a beautifully made Nicaraguan Puro. It starts out earthy and crisp, yet has a distinctive flavor like no other cigar. as you experience the cool even burn of this handmade cigar, it builds into a well rounded, smooth taste with hints of oak and maple syrup.
