AZ Cigars

Just got back from sunny Arizona. Never really thought that I would like it down there, but it turns out that the wifey-poo and I loved it! Guess we must be getting old, eh?

Arizona is basically the exact opposite of here in Seattle - if you like cloudy, damp, wet, soggy weather, Arizona is not for you!

Anyway, we spent most of our time in Scottsdale, but we also drove to Sedona, Flagstaff, the Grand Canyon, Tucson, and all over Phoenix, even saw a little snow between Flagstaff and the Grand Canyon. (7300 foot elevation)

So did I find any cigar lounges on my travels?  Yes!

Fox Cigar Bar

1464 E. Williams Field Rd. #105 Gilbert, AZ 85296
hours: Sun-Thu 10am till midnight, Fri-Sat 10am till 2am.

If you're in Scottsdale, like I was, this might be a little far to drive, but for me it was totally worth it. You see this is one of the few cigar places that I was able to find that is open till late. Really? Yes! Most of the cigar establishments down here close at 6pm. Now I'm just talking about cigar joints, there are many restaurants down here that allow you to smoke cigars in their outside seating areas, but as far as cigar lounges, this is the only one that I could find that was open really late. Glad I found it too!

Couple of noteworthy things about this place - the cigars and booze are considerably cheaper here than in Washington, and honestly if you can't find what you're looking for here, you need to raise your standards!

Another cool place that I found in Scottsdale:

Ford and Haig Tobacconist

7070 5th Ave
Scottsdale, AZ 85251

hours: Mon-Wed 9:30am-6:00pm, Thu-Fri 9:30am-9pm, Sat 9am-9pm, Sun 10:30am-5:30pm

From their website:

"The oldest tobacco store in The Valley, and one of the oldest in Arizona, Ford & Haig – the Tobacconist, has been doing business for over fifty years."

I visited this cigar lounge a coupe times while my lovely wife was shopping over at the Scottsdale Fashion Square. Not to change the subject, but this Mall is bigger than Bellevue Square, the Bravern, and Northgate combined - it's gigantic! I guess that's a good thing - gave me plenty of time to finish all those cigars I smoked!

Anyway, this is a great little cigar shop - excellent selection of cigars and a nice little seating area up front, perfect for watching the ballgame on the big screen. They also let you serve yourself with cold pop or water from the fridge in the back. Nice touch...

I was really surprised at how many regular customers this place has too, everyone smoking cigars in the middle of the day. Doesn't anyone work anymore? lol...

Great time in AZ - saw lots of beautiful places, ate some of the best food, got plenty of sunshine, and to top it off, smoked some of the finest cigars made on the earth! What a life!

Side note:

Got your tickets for the SpringSmoke at the Snoqualmie Casino yet? Me neither, but I think I'm heading up the mountain this weekend to buy mine. I've procrastinated long enough...

See you there!
